Regular Everything II is an unreleased book illustrated by Mayo Thompson between 1970 and 1971.
Background
In 1970, Mayo Thompson illustrated ex-Crayola drummer Frederick Barthelme's short fiction collection Rangoon. The book was published in July 1970 by Winter House Ltd., a new publishing house based in New York. Rangoon's third chapter, titled "Regular Everything," consisted of twelve full-page illustrations by Thompson without text accompaniment. Winter House's press release for Rangoon indicated that they would publish a follow-up titled Regular Everything II in the spring of 1971.[1] However, this sequel was never released.
8th Floor exhibition
In October 2015, Thompson staged his first solo art exhibition 8th Floor at the Greene Naftali gallery in New York City. Along with a number of recent works, he exhibited 174 illustrations from Regular Everything II in three vitrines.[2] Thompson's exhibition 8th Floor ran simultaneously with Michael Krebber's exhibition Ground Floor, and in 2018, Greene Naftali published a "festive and conceptual exhibition catalogue comprised of [both artists'] artworks printed onto party blowers".
