GANG BANGED

Two members of Gang of Four were attacked and seriously injured when leaving a club in Leeds last week and the band have had to cancel the first four gigs of the tour as previously listed.

Andy Gill suffered a broken nose and Jon King had his cheekbone fractured in three places, but the band still plan to pick up the tour from Brighton Top Rank on November 7.

Gang of Four

November 10, 1979

As you probably read in the music press, Andy Gill and Jon King from the Gang of Four suffered a fairly serious...urrr...accident two weeks ago. Against all the odds they will be appearing tonight but needless to say they are in a very fragile condition. It would therefore be greatly appreciated if no-one attempts to get on to the stage area.

Also please look after the building and each other and please be reasonable with the bar staff. Anyone getting involved with violence inside or outside the hall is letting everyone down badly. If we all act reasonably, Friars good reputation can be kept, nobody or band will be banned and live music can continue.

Thanks

Retrospectives

2016[3]

This was actually in 1979, Swell Maps pulled out and were replaced by Stowaways. Apparently Andy and Jon were were beaten up a couple of weeks before by thugs and the gig was nearly cancelled.
